Broken teeth

40% of dogs fracture a tooth during their life. Just imagine what that must feel like – most of us have experienced the pain of toothache!

Look in your pet’s mouth often, if they fetch sticks and stones their teeth could get damaged. Your veterinarian may be able to repair these.

These pictures are of a young dog that did not fracture a tooth, but had a defect in the enamel. This defect accelerated wear, leading to several holes or cavities that were causing pain. The veterinarian was able to repair these and this young dog was able to keep his tooth.

Keep an eye on your pet’s teeth and if you see holes or fractures take them to your veterinarian quickly. In many cases, if the tooth is treated quickly, it can be saved.
