Cat with some painful teeth

This much loved cat stopped eating and the owners visited to see what the problem was. It was the poor cat’s teeth. The gum disease was so bad that the gum and supporting bone had been eaten away. Plaque is covering the tooth and the swelling is a result of an immune response to the bacteria. Both of this cat’s incisor teeth had to be removed as there was so much disease.

The owners were not aware of the importance of looking after their cat’s teeth.

There are three good ways to look after your cat’s teeth to avoid painful gum disease.

Petosan fingercloth

Fingerbrush

Finger cloths are made of soft microfibre.
This gently scrubs the tooth surface. A good tip for cats is to put a spot of tuna oil on the cloth.
Then gently rub the teeth, especially around the gum line each day.

Maxiguard Dental Wipes

Textured dental wipes with natural bio-available zinc have a dual effect. The gently textured surface helps remove stubborn bacteria and the tasteless natural zinc acts as an antimicrobial for harmful bacteria leaving the natural flora of the mouth intact. Gently wipe the teeth with the wipes each day to keep bacterial plaque under control.

Maxiguard OraZn

Maxiguard OraZn has the same tasteless natural bioavailable zinc formula as the dental wipes, but in a gel form. The gel is applied as a pea sized drop to the gums above the upper molar teeth with a dab. This will then naturally end up around your pet’s gum line to remove harmful bacteria, leaving the animal’s natural mouth flora intact.
